Cookies
The site uses cookies for one thing: counting visits, with Google Analytics. They're only set if you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Deny, or don't choose, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google.

Your choice is remembered in your browser for six months, so the banner doesn't ask on every page. To change it, use the Cookies link at the bottom of any page. Choosing Deny also removes analytics cookies that were set before.
What analytics records
If you accept, Google Analytics records how the site is used: the pages you visit, how you arrived (from a search engine, say), your type of device and browser, and your rough location (country or city). It doesn't store your IP address. I only see totals, and use them to understand what people read.
The legal basis is your consent. Google processes the data on my behalf, may transfer it to the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and keeps it for up to 14 months.
Emails
If you email me, I keep your message and address only to reply and to keep track of our conversation. I won't add you to a mailing list.
Hosting
This site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any host, it keeps short-lived logs of each request, including your IP address and browser, to keep the site secure and running.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete personal data I hold about you, or object to how it's used, by emailing me. You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the one in the country where you live.
